In June 2020 Alexander Koch, together with colleagues from the University of Missouri, USA, presented a new research topic within the context of student misbehavior in elementary STEM education at the American Society for Engineering Education virtual conference.

First interview data show that teachers see “troublemakers” as interruptions of the smooth flow of learning of the other students. Besides trying to shut the misbehavior down, they do see potential positive aspects that need to be addressed in a special way, e.g. trying to understand the student, and to redirect the negative behavior.
