{"id":1205,"date":"2021-02-15T16:08:04","date_gmt":"2021-02-15T15:08:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.unifr.ch\/create\/?p=1205"},"modified":"2021-02-15T16:08:04","modified_gmt":"2021-02-15T15:08:04","slug":"penser-le-byod-a-la-lumiere-de-lempreinte-ecologique","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.unifr.ch\/create\/penser-le-byod-a-la-lumiere-de-lempreinte-ecologique\/","title":{"rendered":"Penser le BYOD \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re de l&#8217;empreinte \u00e9cologique"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tentons d&#8217;appliquer le paradoxe de Jevons \u00e0 l&#8217;actuelle num\u00e9risation de l&#8217;\u00e9cole.<\/p>\n<p>Pour rappel, l&#8217;\u00e9cole publique du primaire au tertiaire adopte des environnements\/outils num\u00e9riques dans l&#8217;espoir de faciliter l&#8217;apprentissage en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, mais surtout, afin de viser des comp\u00e9tences citoyennes chez toutes et tous dans un monde futur franchement num\u00e9ris\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Quant au paradoxe de Jevons, il s&#8217;agit en bref de: plus une technologie se d\u00e9mocratise, moins elle peut \u00eatre gourmande en \u00e9nergie, mais plus elle est utilis\u00e9e. En fin de compte, les am\u00e9liorations techniques r\u00e9duisant la consommation se retrouvent \u00e9cras\u00e9es par les augmentations de consommation induites par le nombre. &#8220;Ce paradoxe implique que l&#8217;introduction de technologies plus efficaces en mati\u00e8re d&#8217;\u00e9nergie peut, dans l&#8217;agr\u00e9gat, augmenter la consommation totale de l&#8217;\u00e9nergie&#8221; (Wikipedia, https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paradoxe_de_Jevons).<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;\u00e9cole d\u00e9mocratise donc l&#8217;utilisation des outils num\u00e9riques, notamment via le BYOD (bring your own device) ou le COPE (corporate owned, personally enabled). La seconde partie du paradoxe est ainsi facilit\u00e9 (voire act\u00e9e), l&#8217;achat de machine sera de fait augment\u00e9. Mais quid de la premi\u00e8re ? La r\u00e9duction de la consommation des ordinateurs ? Mes comp\u00e9tences d&#8217;ing\u00e9nieries \u00e9lectriques sont assur\u00e9ment insuffisantes pour en juger, par contre je me permets de supposes qu&#8217;une am\u00e9lioration \u00e0 ce niveau sera plus ais\u00e9ment exploit\u00e9e par les fabricants pour augmenter les performances des machines. En tous les cas, <a href=\"https:\/\/app.dimensions.ai\/details\/publication\/pub.1130092657?search_mode=content&amp;search_text=impact%20of%20digital%20technology%20on%20ecology&amp;search_type=kws&amp;search_field=full_search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blair<\/a> (2020) rapporte les menaces des innovations technologiques sur des \u00e9missions carbone, et cela suffit pour questionner nos gestes quotidiens.<\/p>\n<p>J&#8217;arrive donc \u00e0 ma proposition, le combat \u00e9cologique ne pouvant certainement pas \u00eatre oubli\u00e9 dans ce choix num\u00e9rico-scolaire: Si BYOD il y a (en soi, je ne suis pas contre), alors un BYOD \u00e9cologiquement r\u00e9fl\u00e9chi devrait \u00eatre privil\u00e9gi\u00e9. Voici trois propositions \u00e0 explorer :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>mettre en place une organisation \u00e9tatique en charge de reconditionner des machines vieilles de 4-5 ans en y installant UBUNTU (qui tourne parfaitement sur mon mac pour air 11 pouces de 2012!) ;<\/li>\n<li>construire les curriculums scolaires pour que les activit\u00e9s des \u00e9l\u00e8ves puissent \u00eatre r\u00e9alis\u00e9es sur des Raspberry Pi, connu pour la faible consommation \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique ;<\/li>\n<li>installer un syst\u00e8me de computer-sharing (une machine pour deux \u00e9l\u00e8ves, \u00e0 se r\u00e9partir sur la semaine) ;<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Quoi qu&#8217;il en soit, il semble urgent d&#8217;interroger de la consommation \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique sous-jacente \u00e0 un d\u00e9ploiement g\u00e9n\u00e9ralis\u00e9 des environnements\/outils num\u00e9riques \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9cole.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tentons d&#8217;appliquer le paradoxe de Jevons \u00e0 l&#8217;actuelle num\u00e9risation de l&#8217;\u00e9cole.
