The principal subject of my current research is the interaction of the basement and sedimentary cover in the Jura Mountains fold-and-thrust belt and its tectonic evolution. I am using borehole data, seismic lines and cross-sections, combined with remote sensing and field data in order to constrain the geology of the Jura Mountains and the adjacent grabens (Bresse, Upper Rhine and transfer zone), with a focus on basement faults, detachment horizons in the cover and deformation sequences. The approach I am using to analyse selected tectonic systems is a combination of balancing techniques and kinematic modelling.
